Pune’s Sassoon Hospital to start free robotic surgeries in three months

BJ Medical College and Sassoon General Hospital in India will soon offer free robotic-assisted surgeries, becoming the first government hospital in the district to do so. The facility is expected to be set up within the next three months, costing ?22 crore ($3 million). The hospital has sought funds from the state government and is also considering financial aid from corporate companies under their Corporate Social Responsibility programmes. The robotic surgical system will enable doctors to perform complex procedures with greater ease and accuracy, resulting in minimal blood loss and quick recovery.
